Ykee Benda Survives Serious Accident While Heading to Museveni Campaign Event
Ugandan music star Ykee Benda is receiving an outpouring of support and messages of relief after surviving a serious road accident on Monday, December 8, 2025, while travelling to a campaign event for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The accident occurred as the singer was en route to Kyegegwa District in Western Uganda, where he had been scheduled to perform during the ongoing campaigns for the ruling NRM party. According to early reports, Ykee Benda was in the vehicle with two close companions. All three survived and sustained only moderate injuries.
Local entertainment outlet MBU reported that Ykee Benda suffered injuries to his left shoulder and arm, while another passenger hit his head during the crash and was rushed to hospital for examination and first aid. Although the exact cause of the accident has not yet been established, authorities confirmed that no life-threatening injuries were recorded.
This marks the second major accident involving Ykee Benda, following a similar incident in November 2020 when he was travelling with his family. The recurrence has prompted renewed discussions among fans and public figures about road safety during political activities, especially in the high-pressure period leading up to elections.
Meanwhile, President Museveni’s campaign continues to sweep across the country ahead of the January 2026 elections. The NRM has already confirmed him as its presidential flag-bearer, accompanied by a new manifesto centered on infrastructure growth, agricultural transformation, and improved social welfare.
Following the accident, Ykee Benda expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life and thanked supporters who have been sending him messages of encouragement. He noted that he is receiving treatment and hopes to fully recover so he can return to his music engagements soon.
The incident serves as a reminder that, even amid the intensity of nationwide campaigns, the safety of artists, supporters, and campaign teams must remain a top priority.
