On Friday, 12 December 2025, members of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) elected their representatives in Gasabo and Nyarugenge districts, following similar activities across the provinces in recent days.

The event was opened by Commissioner General Hon. Alexis Mugisha, during which party members elected local leaders and participated in training on governance, democracy, environmental protection, and economic empowerment.

Louise Muhawenimana, re-elected to lead the Green Party in Gasabo, said the party’s initiatives are helping citizens improve their livelihoods. “We are leveraging these development projects and opportunities our children are studying, those in poverty are improving their living conditions, and access to utilities is easier,” she said.

Juliet Batsinda, Secretary of Media for the Green Party, urged members to use social media responsibly and avoid falling into traps that could harm Rwanda’s reputation. She stressed the importance of highlighting the country’s achievements and collaborating with others to build the nation. “There is hope to gain many votes in the next elections!” she added.

Hon. Mugisha noted that the combined training and meetings held across the country have prepared party members, giving confidence that the Green Party will secure significant seats in the 2029 elections. “Our members are well-informed about the party’s principles and ideology, and this unity gives us hope for strong support in future elections,” he said.

He added that as party support grows, members are increasingly promoting the party to others, contributing to its expansion. “It is evident that our activities are yielding the political results we expected,” he noted, adding that since February 2025, the party has actively engaged members nationwide and facilitated leadership elections from the sector level upwards.

Following the elections and training in Gasabo and Nyarugenge, the Green Party will continue similar activities in Kicukiro, Huye, and Nyamagabe, aiming to cover all districts in the country.
