U.S. President Donald Trump warned on November 2, 2025, that American forces could be sent to Nigeria or conduct air strikes to halt the mass killings of Christians in the West African nation.

When asked whether he was considering sending troops on the ground or launching air strikes in Nigeria, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that both were possible.

He said, “It’s possible. I’m thinking of many things. They are killing large numbers of Christians in Nigeria. They are killing them in very large numbers. We will not allow that to continue.”

Trump made the remarks on Sunday evening as he returned to Washington from his vacation home in Florida, located in the southeastern United States.

On Saturday, Trump had warned that he might take military action against Nigeria if Africa’s most populous country failed to take strong measures to stop the killings of Christians.

Trump’s threat of military action came a day after his administration added Nigeria back to the list of “Countries of Particular Concern” for violations of religious freedoms. Other countries on the list include China, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, and India.
