Evariste Ndayishimiye arrives in Washington
The President of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, has arrived in Washington, D.C., United States, where he is attending the signing of an agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This was confirmed by the Burundian presidency, which announced that Evariste Ndayishimiye had arrived in the United States and was warmly welcomed by Burundians living there.
Through its official X account, the presidency published photos showing Ndayishimiye being received by delighted citizens, including children who presented him with flowers.
On Thursday, December 4, 2025, Presidents Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Félix Antoine Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo are scheduled to confirm the peace agreement that was signed in June this year.
The ceremony will be presided over by U.S. President Donald Trump, as announced a few days ago by the White House.
In addition to Ndayishimiye, other leaders expected to attend include President William Ruto of Kenya, who also chairs the East African Community, and João Manuel Lourenço of Angola, who chairs the African Union.
