Sherrie Silver Turns Down Super Bowl Offer to Prioritize Youth Empowerment Event
Rwandan-born international choreographer and philanthropist Sherrie Silver has revealed that she declined a major commercial deal linked to the world-famous Super Bowl Halftime Show. The opportunity, which would have seen her involved in a high-profile advertisement followed by billions of viewers globally, coincided with the second edition of her youth empowerment fundraising gala, The Silver Gala.
In a media interview on Monday, October 27, 2025, the 31-year-old artist explained that she was scheduled to travel to the United States on November 1 to shoot the commercial. However, the date falls on the same day her foundation is hosting The Silver Gala in Rwanda, compelling her to choose her passion for Africa’s development over the global spotlight. “On the day of the Gala, I was supposed to be filming a Super Bowl commercial,” she said. “But for me, being in Hollywood and achieving personal success is not enough. I must ensure my country rises too. The world is celebrating Africans and our culture, and I want our youth to be part of those celebrations.”
A Gala With Purpose Beyond Glamour
Silver emphasized that The Silver Gala is not just about glitz and star-studded performances, but about tangible transformation in the lives of African youth.
“When you hear Silver Gala, think of unity that goes beyond luxury. Think of positive impact that must remain after the party. There must be change after that night. That is what we are building,” she stressed.
The Silver Gala is organized by the Sherrie Silver Foundation, which supports over 1,000 vulnerable children across Rwanda with education, skills development, and creative opportunities.
