A$AP Rocky Breaks Silence on Drake vs. Kendrick Beef, Criticizes Lawsuit
American rapper A$AP Rocky has finally shared his perspective on the heated feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, revealing why he chose to remain on the sidelines during the high-profile clash that dominated hip-hop in 2024.
“The battle was between Kendrick and Drake, not Drake and everybody else who might have said something at that time and that’s mainly why I fell back,” Rocky explained.
The tension took a new turn when Drake and Universal Music Group became entangled in a legal dispute over Kendrick’s chart-topping diss track Not Like Us and its commercial rollout. Rocky, however, expressed his disapproval of the matter escalating into a lawsuit.
“I just hate the way it’s turning out with [Drake] suing and all that,” he said. “What part of the game is that? What type of stuff is that? That’s none of my business, I guess.”
Drake had previously taken aim at Rocky in his track Family Matters, questioning the Harlem rapper’s musical relevance while ridiculing his fashion-focused image and personal life. The lyrics which suggested Rocky needed to have another child before releasing significant music remain etched in fans’ minds months later.
Rocky, who dropped his single pray4dagang earlier this summer as part of his long-delayed Don’t Be Dumb album rollout, has since shifted attention to other ventures. This week, he unveiled a new fashion collaboration with Moncler Genius, while he and Rihanna prepare to welcome their third child a baby girl, if their hopes are fulfilled.
