Renowned media personality and event host Anita Pendo is among the more than 1,161 students who graduated from Mount Kenya University Rwanda Campus on December 5, 2025. The entertainer officially received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, marking the end of an eight-year academic journey filled with personal and professional challenges.
Anita began her university studies in 2017, before giving birth to her first child. during the launch of her book a few weeks ago, she explained that her education path was repeatedly disrupted by family responsibilities and motherhood. “I won’t go into the exact year I started university, but it was before I had my first child. After giving birth, I tried to reorganize myself to return to school, then suddenly I had another baby. Raising them, managing life everything made it difficult to continue,” she said.
In 2023, she made a firm decision to resume her studies and complete what she had started. Her determination culminated in this week's graduation, where she proudly walked away with her degree.
Anita also revealed her ambition to further her education by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Media Management, aiming to strengthen her leadership skills within the media industry.
For her final-year research project, Anita examined the role of radio in promoting local artists and their music. Her findings showed that radio remains one of the most influential platforms in helping artists gain visibility, largely because it is accessible to a wide audience across the country.
Anita Pendo first rose to prominence during her years at Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) and has since established herself as a radio presenter at Kiss FM, as well as a DJ and Master of Ceremonies (MC) at major events.
Her graduation has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many praising her resilience as a mother, media professional, and student who refused to abandon her academic goals despite the challenges she faced.
