Music lovers in Edmonton, Canada, are preparing for an exciting start to the new year. On January 2, 2026, Rwandan star Safi Madiba will headline a special concert at Serengeti BBQ, an event created to bring together East Africans living in the city.


The show, dubbed “East African Take Over,” is expected to be one of the most vibrant gatherings kicking off 2026 blending rhythms, culture and celebration for the entire community.

Speaking to local media, Safi Madiba shared his enthusiasm about performing for his Canadian fan base at such a meaningful moment in the year. “This concert is special for me. 2025 was a great year I returned to Rwanda, worked on several projects, and wrapped up my new album that will carry me into 2026. I believe the new year will also be a good one for me and my fans,”
he said.

He noted that meeting his supporters in Edmonton at the beginning of the year is something he has long looked forward to, especially now that he will be showcasing music from his upcoming album.
