FARDC, Wazalendo seize Katoyi araea
The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), together with the Wazalendo militia, are reported to have regained control of the Katoyi area after days of fighting with the M23 rebel group.
Katoyi town is located in Masisi Territory. Fighting is still ongoing between the two sides in parts of Walikale, Masisi, and Rutshuru territories.
According to the army high command, this achievement came after they captured other areas, including Kazinga, Kasheke, and Bibatama, following victories over M23.

On the late night of Tuesday, November 19, 2025, it was also reported that AFC/M23 rebels captured the villages of Kasheke and Bituna in the Osso Banyungu Groupement of Masisi Territory in North Kivu.
M23 captured these areas after defeating the Wazalendo militia, which operates in collaboration with the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), in heavy fighting.

This is happening at a time when peace talks are ongoing in Doha, Qatar, and in the United States, aimed at signing a peace agreement to restore stability in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
On Saturday, November 15, 2025, a signing ceremony was also held in Doha, Qatar, for the framework of a peace agreement intended to end the conflict in eastern DRC between the government and the M23 rebel group.
