Reports surfaced this week claiming the singer ordered police to intimidate Obasi after
disagreements arose over the furnishing of his new residences. Social media quickly lit up with
screenshots of petitions and claims of harassment, sparking backlash against the star.
However, Rema’s legal team has firmly denied the accusations. In a statement released
Thursday, Richard Adama, Esq. of O&O Legal Practitioners, asserted that Obasi was not a victim
of intimidation but a suspect in an attempted fraud scheme.
According to the statement, Obasi allegedly colluded with Rema’s former personal assistant to
inflate project costs while consistently failing to meet agreed deadlines. “Investigations
revealed that Ms. Obasi conspired with our client’s former aide to deliberately and grossly
inflate prices of materials, services, and labor, while still delivering substandard work,” the
lawyers wrote.

The statement further claimed that Obasi had previously been arrested and granted bail under
clear conditions, which she allegedly violated. Her noncompliance, the lawyers said, led to her
subsequent re-arrest and ongoing detention by the Nigeria Police Force.
Police authorities in Lagos confirmed that a case had indeed been reported and is under active
investigation. Officials urged both parties to allow due process to unfold while assuring the
public that the matter will be handled in accordance with the law.
For now, Rema has chosen to speak only through his legal representatives. The award-winning
singer, who recently released his new single Fun, appears intent on keeping his public focus on
music, even as the legal battle surrounding his home renovation project continues to unfold.
