Taylor Swift Reveals Travis Kelce Remembered Her Favorite Jeweler 18 Months Before Proposing
Taylor Swift says Travis Kelce’s attention to detail made her engagement ring even more meaningful.
The pop superstar, 35, appeared on the U.K. radio show Heart Breakfast on Friday, October 3, where she discussed the release of her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl and opened up about her engagement to the NFL star.
During the interview, hosts Emma Bunton and Jamie Theakston congratulated Swift and asked to see her ring. Smiling, Swift revealed that Kelce had worked with renowned jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, known for her intricate hand-engraved gold designs.
“I had shown him a video of her work about a year and a half ago,” Swift recalled. “I just thought her stuff was so cool. It turns out he was paying attention to everything, because when I saw the ring, I gasped-I immediately knew who made it. It was like, ‘You really know me.’ I didn’t even know what I would want, but some how he did, and that’s kind of a flex.”
Swift and Kelce, both 35, announced their engagement on August 26 with a floral-filled Instagram post captioned: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The ring, a vintage-inspired design created with Lubeck, features a massive old mine brilliant cut diamond in a bezel setting. Jewelry expert Neil Dutta of Angelic Diamonds estimates the stone to be between seven and ten carats, with similar Artifex designs retailing for more than $33,000.
Swift’s appearance on Heart Breakfast also coincided with the release of The Life of a Showgirl, her highly anticipated new album. The record includes several lyrical references to Kelce, such as “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite,” a track inspired by his October birthstone and said to be his favorite.
When asked by Bunton about her plans for a bachelorette party known as a “hen do” in the U.K. Swift admitted she had not thought that far ahead. “Everyone is scattered across the world, that’s the thing,” she explained. “You’d think I’d have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I never thought about what I would want until I met the person. Even now, I haven’t really thought about it. My girlfriends are so fun, but so busy.”
With a love story defined by thoughtfulness, a showstopping ring, and an album filled with personal touches, Swift and Kelce’s next chapter promises to be as captivating as their romance.
