Tanzania has announced that its economy is projected to grow by 6% this year, largely driven by sustainable development projects such as road construction, railway expansion, and power plant development.
Government spending is expected to increase by nearly 12% in this fiscal year to support those projects, as the country continues to face aid restrictions particularly from the United States.

The opposition claims that President Hassan’s government rigged the elections and undermined democratic processes, sparking unrest after several opposition candidates were disqualified from the race.
Hassan, who came to power in 2021 following the death of Magufuli, denied accusations of human rights violations and insisted that the elections were free and fair.
The United Nations Human Rights Office reported that hundreds of people were killed during the protests, while the opposition party and human rights groups claimed that security forces killed more than 1,000 people.
