Manzi Willy denies reports of his arrest
Ngarambe Manzi Willy, the Deputy Governor of North Kivu Province in charge of politics, administration and legal affairs, has dismissed reports claiming that he had been arrested.
Rumors that Manzi Willy, who is affiliated with the AFC/M23 side, had been arrested circulated widely among social media users who appeared to be aligned with the Government of the DRC.
These users claimed that he had been apprehended in Canada by that country’s security agencies as he was “on his way to the United States for the signing ceremony of a peace agreement” between the governments of Kinshasa and Kigali.
Ngarambe Manzi Willy, who once lived in Canada where he served as the leader of the Congolese diaspora supporting the M23, denied the arrest allegations through his X account.
Responding to one of those who had announced that he was detained, he said: “Dreams will keep following you. I am in Kinshasa.”
In February this year, Manzi Willy was appointed Deputy Governor of North Kivu, serving under the province’s Governor, Bahati Musanga Erasto.
