The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has announced that it is aware of the internet disruption affecting MTN Rwanda and confirmed that it is following up on the issue.


The internet outage on MTN’s network occurred on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, prompting the company to issue an apology to its customers for the poor service experience.

MTN stated, “Dear customers, we would like to inform you that we are currently experiencing challenges with our internet services due to a problem affecting international routes passing through Uganda and Tanzania.”

In its message, the company added, “Our technical teams are working hard to restore internet connectivity to normal as soon as possible.” After MTN’s statement, RURA also announced that it had begun monitoring the issue.

RURA’s management said, “We would like to inform MTN internet users that RURA is following up on this matter to ensure it is resolved as quickly as possible.”

Internet services in Rwanda often face disruptions, which are mostly caused by problems with international fiber routes used by local telecom companies.
