Qatar’s Emir to visit Kinshasa after Rwanda
Qatar’s Supreme Leader Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani arrived in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa, after completing a visit to Rwanda on Friday, November 21, 2025.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani had been in Rwanda the previous day, November 20, 2025, where he held talks with the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. The Head of State, through his X account, said that their discussions were productive.
He said: “I thank my brother and friend, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his visit to Rwanda and the productive talks we held. Rwanda greatly appreciates the strong cooperation we share with the State of Qatar and the special friendship that continues to guide our partnership.”

President Paul Kagame emphasized that he is committed to advancing the progress made during the Emir of Qatar’s visit and to strengthening key joint initiatives that benefit both Rwanda and Qatar.
When Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani arrived in Kinshasa after leaving Kigali, he was received at Ndjili International Airport by DRC President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi.

President Tshisekedi’s spokesperson, Tina Salama, stated that the Emir of Qatar’s visit aims to “strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the DRC and Qatar, two friendly nations.”
Qatar is among the countries involved in mediating between the Congolese government and the M23 rebel group, as well as working toward solutions to the insecurity affecting Eastern Congo and the wider Great Lakes region.
