Mosquera and Lewis-Skelly return as Arsenal prepare for crucial Bayern showdown
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has recalled Cristhian Mosquera and Myles Lewis-Skelly to the starting XI for tonight’s Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium.
The defensive pair step in as Arteta makes two changes from the side that beat Tottenham 4–1 at the weekend. With Gabriel Magalhães still sidelined, Mosquera partners William Saliba in central defence, while Lewis-Skelly replaces Riccardo Calafiori at left-back after impressing in recent training sessions.
There is positive news for Arsenal in midfield, with captain Martin Ødegaard named among the substitutes following six weeks out with a knee issue. The Norwegian has not featured since the Gunners’ win over West Ham on 4 October.
Bayern Munich arrives in north London with a perfect record in Group C and name a strong side despite the suspension of Luis Díaz. Harry Kane leads the attack against his former Premier League rivals, with Michael Olise and ex-Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry also included in a front three packed with pace and creativity.
Arsenal are level on points with Bayern at the top of the group but trail on goal difference, making tonight’s match pivotal in the race for the last-16 seeding places.
