The M23 rebel group has accused the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) of violating the ceasefire agreement they signed and undermining the Doha peace talks.

The group made the accusation after the Congolese army coalition launched attacks on densely populated areas in the Masisi and Walikale territories, reportedly using combat drones.

Through its spokesperson, Lawrence Kanyuka, M23 said the attacks targeted the areas of Nyarushyamba in Masisi Territory and Kashebere in Walikale on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

M23 accused the DRC government of breaching the ceasefire agreement and “disrespecting the Doha talks,” saying that Kinshasa continues to show the world that it is not committed to resolving the conflict peacefully.

These attacks follow earlier strikes by government forces on Tuesday, October 21, in the areas of Mpeti and Nzibira, using CH-4 combat drones.

Meanwhile, the Congolese army (FARDC) recently denied reports claiming that military equipment was being transferred from Uvira, calling such claims false.

Tensions continue to rise as France prepares to host a high-level peace conference in Paris on October 30, 2025, aimed at finding solutions for the ongoing conflict in eastern DRC and promoting stability across the Great Lakes region.
