Burundi army unveils locally made military vehicle
The Burundi National Defense Force (FDNB) has unveiled a locally manufactured military vehicle as part of efforts to boost the army’s capacity through homegrown innovation.
The event was presided over by the Minister of Defense, Chantal Nijimbere, and the Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Prime Niyongabo.
A photo of the small military pickup truck, first shared by Burundi’s national broadcaster RTNB (Radio Télévision Nationale du Burundi), has been circulating widely on social media.

According to RTNB, the vehicle was presented during a working visit by Minister Nijimbere and Gen. Niyongabo to different branches of the Burundi army. The visit aimed to assess the progress made in fulfilling the army’s assigned duties.
During their tour, the two officials visited the ground forces, reserve units, naval forces, and air force, as well as military justice institutions, including the military court and military prosecutor’s office.

After meeting various army commanders, Minister Chantal Nijimbere expressed her satisfaction with the work being done by the Burundian military.
She said:“We have seen that in all sectors, they are performing their duties as stipulated by the law governing the army and its leadership.”
She also commended the commitment and integrity of all soldiers, adding: “I have observed that everyone performs their tasks diligently and in line with professional ethics and values.”

Nijimbere emphasized that professionalism is what characterizes the FDNB, and she expressed appreciation for the army’s dedication to maintaining national security.
The minister further praised the FDNB for doing everything possible to ensure lasting peace in Burundi, stressing that: “The FDNB has demonstrated reliability in defending the country’s borders and in safeguarding peace and security so that citizens can go about their daily activities in tranquility.”
