Joeboy’s Mum Teases Him: “You’ve Blown in Music, Now Blow Into Marriage”
Nigerian Afropop sensation Joeboy sparked laughter online after sharing a voice note from his mother urging him to settle down. Despite his rapid rise to fame and string of global hits, his mother made it clear that success on stage is not enough she wants him to walk down the aisle.
On Tuesday, September 30, the singer, whose real name is Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, posted a WhatsApp voice note on his official X account. Before dropping the clip, he teased fans with the line: “Can’t believe what I woke up to this morning.”
Moments later, he shared the recording alongside the dramatic caption: “Help! I’m in danger,” followed by a crying emoji.
In the message, his mother mixed praise with playful pressure:
“All this your music, blowing up everywhere, enjoyment. You have blown no doubt about that. But when will you now blow into marriage? Your mates are doing wedding everywhere. What are you doing? I have told all my friends my son will get married soon.”
Social Media Reactions
The clip quickly went viral, prompting an avalanche of comments and memes from fans who related to the familiar parental nudge. “When will you blow into marriage?? Nigerian moms never rest!” one fan joked.
Another quipped: “You’re the one putting her in danger bring her a wife already.”
Others urged Joeboy to turn the audio into music: “This is the perfect intro for a wedding song. Imagine the video at a wedding reception.”
The lighthearted exchange even inspired Joeboy to change his X handle name to “Bachelor.”
Love Life Under Wraps
While his mother and fans may be eager for wedding bells, Joeboy has always kept his private life out of the spotlight.
The singer has opened up about past relationships, including dating a “sugar mummy,” having one official ex-girlfriend, and briefly considering a fan. Since 2023, however, he has confirmed being in a serious, long-term relationship, which he described as “pure, intense, helpless love.”
“I do have a girlfriend as a responsible man; we’ve been together for like 2–3 years,” he revealed in an interview. “I would put a ring on it when I’m ready no pressure. Her identity will remain a mystery.”
Joeboy also admitted he enjoys spoiling his partner, revealing he has spent more than ₦50 million on her.
A Balancing Act
As Joeboy continues to dominate charts and stages worldwide, the playful push from his mother has added a humorous twist to his journey. Fans are now watching closely to see if the Afropop star will soon fulfill her wish and “blow into marriage.”
Until then, Joeboy stands as a symbol of a new generation of African artists balancing global fame with family traditions and sometimes, parental pressure.
