Taylor Swift Teases Her Secret Agent Skills While Promoting New Album
Taylor Swift brought her signature wit to The Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills, joking about her potential as a spy while discussing her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, released on October 3.
During the lively conversation, host Scott Mills, 51, mentioned that pop legend Gloria Estefan was once approached by the CIA and asked Swift, 35, whether she had ever received a similar offer. “You’d be great at it,” he said. “Think about all the secrets you have to keep.”
Swift laughed and replied, “Yeah, but that’s classified, unfortunately.”
When pressed on what kind of espionage work she’d be best at, the “Opalite” singer delivered a perfectly Swift response: “I think the entering and exiting buildings without being seen. Just put me in a garbage can and roll me. I don’t care honestly, I can fit in like a purse.”
Asked if she was particular about how she travels, the 14-time Grammy winner admitted she sometimes avoids attention in creative ways. “Sometimes I just can’t deal with it,” she said. “So yeah, I’m digging tunnels under every building I go into.”
Her comments nod to a real-life tactic from her Eras Tour, where she was famously transported to the stage inside a cleaning cart a rumor she later confirmed on Instagram. Photos of the disguised cart, decorated with pictures of her cats Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button, also appear in her Eras Tour book and in the “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” video.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1 the same day, Swift reflected on the record-breaking Eras Tour, describing it as “an astonishing experience that exceeded all our expectations.”
“I’ve been with my band and crew for years, and none of us have ever seen anything like it,” she said, before admitting she’s in no rush to tour again. “I’m gonna be honest I’m so tired when I think about doing it again, because I’d want to do it really, really well.”
