Patrick Muyaya, Minister of Communication of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Government Spokesperson, has expressed that his country is not pleased with the way Kenya received individuals led by Joseph Kabila in their initiative to form a new opposition group against the Kinshasa government.

He made these remarks during a press briefing in Washington, alongside Minister of External Trade Julien Paluku, as they attended a U.S.-Congo summit on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

He stated: "You asked me a question about Nairobi. Clearly, I should be backed by my colleague on this issue, but for us, it’s not the main concern  it's an additional issue that I’ll address. A moment ago, while I was speaking with a fellow citizen about this matter, he told me: ‘Minister, don’t you see that this is a mix of people fleeing justice, convicted individuals, or people united by one thing   frustration  due to misfortunes in the country, or that the capital is starting to become the center of a malicious plot against the DRC?’”

Besides accusing Nairobi of betraying Congo by giving a platform to Joseph Kabila, Muyaya also recalled that this is not the first time such actions have occurred, referencing the origin of the Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC).

He added: "The excuse of holding a meeting under the pretext of peace is just that   an excuse. But we know everyone’s role in the history and current destabilization of the country... maybe it’s time we stop fooling ourselves..."

The Congolese Minister of Communication also reminded that during an address in Brussels, President Felix Tshisekedi stated that participants in national dialogue must not include people who refuse to name the enemy of the country, thus implying that those gathered in Nairobi do not qualify to be part of such discussions.
