Cardi B Shuts Down “Industry Plant” Rumors, Says Rap Beef Is Just Human Nature

Cardi B is pushing back against long-standing claims that she was planted in the rap game to shake up hip hop’s power structure  particularly Nicki Minaj’s reign.

On Wednesday’s episode of Call Her Daddy, the “I Like It” hitmaker addressed the speculation, insisting her rise had nothing to do with a secret agenda.

“I was destined to be famous,” Cardi said, making it clear no one signed her to take another artist down. While she didn’t mention Nicki Minaj by name, the reference was obvious. Rumors have swirled for years, especially after a leaked clip of Ye suggested Cardi was “a plant by the Illuminati” meant to replace Nicki.

Cardi admitted she has had her share of conflicts in the industry but downplayed the idea of intentional sabotage. “Sometimes people just don’t get along with each other,” she said. “That doesn’t mean I’m here to step on someone’s career.”

Her feud with Nicki Minaj remains one of hip hop’s most public rivalries, famously erupting during New York Fashion Week in 2018 when Cardi hurled a shoe in Nicki’s direction.

On her latest album Am I The Drama, Cardi takes shots at fellow rappers BIA and JT, as well as at her estranged husband Offset, highlighting the personal and professional tensions that continue to fuel her music.

Nicki, meanwhile, appears ready to fire back in her own way. She teased her upcoming project on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that The Pinkprint follow-up will arrive in March 2026  just as Cardi continues her tour.

With both stars active and outspoken, fans can expect the debate  and the drama to rage on.
