Victor Rukotana Holds the First Show in His ‘Gakondo Roomz Live’ Series
On the night of Friday, October 10, 2025, Victor Rukotana officially launched his new concert series titled “Gakondo Roomz Live,” a musical experience designed to bring together lovers of traditional and contemporary Rwandan music for a night of connection, culture, and celebration.
The inaugural show took place at Rooftop Ikawe Café in Kiyovu, Kigali City. This event marks a new chapter in Rukotana’s artistic journey, following the release of his critically acclaimed album “Imararungu.” Through this project, he continues to showcase his versatility in blending traditional sounds with modern music styles.
During the performance, Rukotana thrilled the audience with his popular songs such as “Nanjye,” “Munyana,” “Kumuyange,” “Inyange,” “Warumagaye,” “Love,” and “Ngarara” (originally by Cecile), as well as “Slowly” by Meddy, among other tracks featured on his album. Each piece was performed with heartfelt acoustic arrangements, creating an intimate and soulful atmosphere that deeply resonated with the crowd.
The event attracted a diverse audience, including renowned figures in the entertainment industry like Alex Muyoboke, a veteran artist manager; Ange from the duo Ange & Pamela; and Tanganyika Elizabeth, a journalist at Kiss FM and a former Miss Rwanda 2022 contestant who also happens to be Rukotana’s sister.
Rukotana was joined on stage by Ras Kayaga, who played a key role in the production of his “Imararungu” album, alongside several other collaborators who continue to support his mission of promoting both traditional and contemporary Rwandan music.
Speaking after his performance, Rukotana described “Gakondo Roomz Live” as a special platform meant to connect artists and music lovers through live acoustic sessions, original compositions, and creative exchanges. “I’m truly grateful to everyone who came to support me,” he said. “This is just the beginning. We plan to hold Gakondo Roomz Live twice a month, starting at 6 PM and running until 10 PM, offering a consistent space for good music and cultural expression.”
With this new initiative, Victor Rukotana continues to reaffirm his position as one of Rwanda’s most talented artists preserving the essence of gakondo (tradition) while blending it seamlessly with the sounds of today.
