The Mamdani family lived in Uganda before moving to India when Zohran was five years old, and later relocated to New York when he was seven.

After his victory was announced on the night of October 4, Zohran, a member of the Democratic Party, said: “Donald Trump, I have four words for youturn up the volume.”
Mamdani has been a strong critic of former President Trump’s immigration policies and said his victory will enable him to pursue his goals, which include tackling the high cost of living, rising rent prices, and expanding affordable childcare services, among others.
He also emphasized that to reduce rent and solve other pressing issues affecting residents, taxes on the wealthy and large corporations must be increased.
