U.S. president Donald Trump orders start of nuclear weapons testing
President of the United States, Donald Trump, has ordered U.S. military leaders to begin testing the country’s nuclear weapons, following similar actions by China and Russia.
Trump made this statement shortly before meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, writing on social media: “Due to the testing programs of other countries, I have instructed the Department of War to begin testing our nuclear weapons.”
Trump stated that the United States possesses more nuclear weapons than any other country. Russia ranks second, while China is third.
The United States last conducted a nuclear weapons test in 1992.

This announcement came just days after Trump warned Russia over a missile test capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, which is reported to have global reach.
In a social media post on Wednesday evening, Trump acknowledged the “extreme danger” of these missiles but said he had “no other option” than to modernize U.S. weapons.
Trump did not provide details on how the testing would be carried out but wrote that it must “begin immediately.”
He made the announcement shortly before Xi’s arrival in South Korea for their first face-to-face meeting since 2019. The message was posted while Trump was aboard Marine One helicopter, en route to Gimhae International Airport to meet Xi.
