His visit is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 2025, beginning in Rwanda before he proceeds to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he will hold talks with the leaders of both countries.

It is believed that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s trip aims to help reconcile the two nations and explore lasting solutions to the ongoing conflict in eastern Congo, especially as Qatar has been acting as a mediator between the M23 rebel group and the Congolese government.

The Emir previously brought together Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and DRC President Félix Tshisekedi for talks aimed at easing tensions between the two countries on March 18, 2025.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani last visited Rwanda on a three-day working trip on April 21, 2019. Upon his arrival at Kigali International Airport in Kanombe, he was received by President Paul Kagame.
