Manchester United will allow Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia to leave for free next summer as Ruben Amorim reshapes his squad, with Brighton’s £115m Carlos Baleba his top target.

Manchester United are set to allow three big money signings to leave for nothing next summer as Ruben Amorim reshapes his struggling squad. Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are all out of contract in 2026 and unlikely to be retained.

Amorim, who succeeded Erik ten Hag in 2024, has endured a difficult first year at Old Trafford, winning just nine of his 32 league games. After trimming the wage bill with high-profile exits last summer, United are prepared for another clear-out to fund a marquee midfield arrival.

The club has long admired Brighton’s Carlos Baleba but were priced out of a deal this year, with the Seagulls demanding £115m. With major spending expected in 2026, freeing salaries is seen as essential.

Casemiro, signed from Real Madrid for £70m in 2022, is the most notable name on the release list. Despite being a regular under both Ten Hag and Amorim, his form has dipped, and United are unwilling to extend his contract.

Sancho, another expensive addition at £73m, has not featured in the Premier League for over two years and is currently on loan at Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Malacia, Ten Hag’s first signing, has endured persistent injuries and failed moves abroad. Both are set to leave for free next July.

One player who looks likely to remain is Harry Maguire. Once out of favour, the England defender has been backed by Amorim, and United hope to agree a new deal on reduced terms.
