Nigerian Afropop sensation Joeboy has once again captured fans’ attention  this time not just with his music, but with his humor. The singer recently teased his upcoming single “Ring” featuring Shoday, set to drop this Friday, through a playful and witty Instagram video that quickly went viral.

In the clip, Joeboy appeared in a mock audition themed around “wife applications,” hosted by popular skit maker Nons Miraj (Ada Jesus). The setup mimicked a “Pop the Balloon” challenge from Nons Miraj’s hit comedy series The Hunt Game Show, where contestants try to win over a potential partner. One by one, women stepped forward to “audition” for Joeboy’s hand, but each time he popped a balloon  humorously turning them down.
The comical scene is Joeboy’s clever response to a question many adults hear as they grow older  “When will you marry?”

Just days earlier, Joeboy had revealed that his mother had joined the chorus of voices asking about his marital plans. In a hilarious social media post on September 30, 2025, he shared a voice note from his mother saying: “All this your music, blowing up everywhere, enjoyment. You have blown  no doubt about that. But when will you now blow into marriage? Your mates are doing weddings everywhere. What are you doing? I have told my friends my son will get married soon.”
The singer reacted to the message on X (formerly Twitter), posting: “Help! I’m in danger ”, sending fans into laughter across platforms.
While Joeboy keeps his love life private, he has confirmed that he’s been in a committed relationship for over three years. Speaking during an interview on Beat 99.9 FM’s Morning Rush in 2024, he said: “I love the fact that she understands my way of life, and understanding is very important. I was even working on Valentine’s Day. I do have a girlfriend  as a responsible man  and we’ve been together for like two to three years.”
The “Baby” hitmaker has also been open about his romantic past, once admitting to dating a “sugar mummy” and acknowledging that he’s had an ex with whom things ended amicably.
Despite the playful jokes and pressure from fans  and family  Joeboy insists that he’ll settle down when the time feels right. “I’ll put a ring on it when I’m ready. No pressure,” he said in a past interview, revealing that he has spent over ₦50 million spoiling his woman in recent years.
As fans eagerly await “Ring”, Joeboy continues to show why he remains one of Afrobeats’ most beloved stars  effortlessly blending charm, humor, and heartfelt music into everything he does.
