George Zinn, a 71-year-old man, has been arrested and is under investigation for allegedly attempting to help the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk escape, during Kirk’s activity at Utah Valley University in Utah County.

Michael Smith, the Sheriff of Utah County, stated that after the shooting incident, George Zinn tried to take responsibility for the crime in an attempt to cover for the real suspect, who had just committed the act.

Zinn is being charged with obstruction of justice for trying to shield Tyler Robinson, the man accused of shooting Charlie Kirk.  Authorities also found explicit materials, including child pornography, in Zinn's possession.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested on September 12 in Utah after a 33-hour investigation carried out by local law enforcement in collaboration with the FBI.

Charlie Kirk, 31, died after being shot once on September 10.  Security cameras captured the suspect fleeing the scene, climbing down from the roof and escaping into a nearby wooded area.

In the hours following the attack, police released photos of the suspect and offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Eventually, Robinson’s father recognized him in the released images and forced him to turn himself  to the authorities.

Prosecutors have not yet revealed the motive behind the attack. During a press conference on Friday, the FBI declined to comment on Robinson’s background, political beliefs, or possible motivations, stating that the investigation is ongoing.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox said that one of Robinson's family members told investigators that Robinson had been “increasingly vocal about politics.”    Family member reported that Robinson had mentioned Charlie Kirk and his political views during a conversation over a meal shortly before the shooting.
