It was a trip during which the DRC delegation held discussions with representatives of the Israeli military equipment manufacturer Elbit Systems. Information indicates that both sides are currently in secret negotiations that could result in Kinshasa purchasing Israeli weapons.

The Congolese delegation that recently traveled to Tel Aviv reportedly included the country’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Jules Banza Mwilambwe, accompanied by Generals Bernard Kaliba Taty and Emmanuel Kaputa Kasenga.
Another member was Kahumbu Mandungu Bula, known as Kao, a special adviser to President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, who is frequently involved in military-related dossiers.

Reports say the purpose of the four officials’ visit was to discuss a major agreement between Kinshasa and Elbit Systems concerning the purchase of 120 mm mortar shells, vehicle-mounted anti-drone systems, and communication and radio equipment.
It is said that although the DRC government has been engaged in talks with Rwanda and the AFC/M23 aimed at defusing tensions between the sides, it is simultaneously seeking to rapidly strengthen its army’s capabilities.
