Arsenal are preparing for a busy January window with the club willing to entertain offers for several first-team players including a potential loan move for highly rated teenager Ethan Nwaneri.

The 18-year-old midfielder remains one of the most valued prospects at the Emirates after breaking into senior contention at an exceptionally young age. But despite regular involvement in Mikel Arteta’s matchday squads, Nwaneri has yet to start a Premier League game this season, prompting discussions over whether a short-term loan could accelerate his development.

Sources say Arsenal will only sanction a move if the environment is deemed “ideal” and guarantees meaningful minutes. Championship clubs and lower-end Premier League sides are already monitoring the situation.

Nwaneri isn’t the only name under review. Arsenal is also expected to assess interest in Ben White, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus, with the club open to conversations if significant bids arrive.

White’s situation has attracted quiet attention from several top-flight rivals, while Martinelli who has struggled for consistency since the arrival of Noni Madueke is being tracked by Saudi Arabian sides ahead of another aggressive winter push.

Jesus, meanwhile, is recovering from a long-term knee injury and could be made available if the right proposal is tabled. Arsenal still values the Brazilian, but privately accepts his recurring fitness issues have complicated his long-term role.

The Gunners spent heavily in the summer window, investing more than £250million on Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Viktor Gyökeres and Eberechi Eze. With squad depth swelling, Arsenal now aims to trim the group heading into the second half of the season.

Club insiders maintain that the core of Arteta’s squad remains intact, with more than 90 per cent of players expected to stay. However, outgoings are considered necessary both financially and to clear pathways for emerging talent.

Before any decisions are finalised, Arsenal return to Premier League action this weekend with a crucial North London Derby at the Emirates. Arteta is optimistic that several injured players will return ahead of the clash with Tottenham, but the January picture remains fluid as the club weighs big calls on four high-profile names.
