Benjamin Šeško says joining Manchester United was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, insisting he never considered any other club despite strong Premier League interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The Slovenian striker completed a £74 million switch from RB Leipzig in the summer as part of United’s attacking overhaul under Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils also spent heavily on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in a £200 million offensive rebuild, but Šeško remains the only natural centre-forward among the new arrivals.

Arsenal had tracked the 22-year-old for months but failed to reach an agreement with Leipzig, eventually moving for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres. Newcastle was also keen, yet Šeško said the lure of Old Trafford was too powerful to resist.

“For me, it was a dream to play for a club like this,” Šeško told Sky Sports. “When I heard United were interested, I was burning to make it happen. It’s something I’ve always wanted, and now I’m really happy to be here.”

After a gradual introduction to the Premier League, Šeško has started to find his feet, scoring twice in his last two league starts. His impact has been described internally as “promising” by Amorim, who praised the forward’s attitude in training and composure in front of goal.

Despite being benched in last weekend’s 2–1 victory over Liverpool, Amorim insisted the decision was tactical, preferring Cunha’s physical style against Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.

Šeško, however, is expected to return to the starting lineup when United face Brighton next week, as he continues to fight for a permanent place in Amorim’s evolving attack.

For Šeško, the mission remains clear to restore Manchester United’s attacking fear factor and prove he belongs among the elite strikers of English football.
