Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed he will once again be without injured forwards Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško for Sunday’s Premier League visit to Crystal Palace, leaving the club short of attacking options at a crucial stage of their season.

Both players were unavailable during Monday’s 1–0 defeat to Everton, and neither has recovered in time to make the squad for the trip to Selhurst Park. Cunha sustained a training-ground knock last weekend, while Šeško remains sidelined with a knee problem he suffered before the international break.

Amorim admitted the timing of the setbacks has left United stretched up front, with Joshua Zirkzee set to lead the line again after making his first league start of the campaign against Everton.

“We’re still managing Šeško carefully and he needs longer,” Amorim said in his Friday briefing. “Matheus should be back for the next fixture, but this one comes too soon. We can’t risk players who aren’t fully ready.”

Cunha’s injury occurred just hours before the Everton match, forcing a late reshuffle. Despite playing against 10 men for most of the night, United failed to break through, registering 25 shots without a goal in a performance that drew frustration from supporters.

United’s selection issues extend beyond the frontline. Harry Maguire is also expected to miss out again with a hamstring issue, while several returning players are still building up match sharpness after recent absences.

Amorim said he understands the disappointment following the defeat but stressed his side must move on quickly in a congested Premier League schedule. “It was a tough week because we dropped points we shouldn’t have,” he said. “But the process doesn’t change. We regroup, correct what went wrong, and go again.”

United sit 10th heading into the weekend but remain only three points off the Champions League places in an unusually tight top half. A win at Selhurst Park would keep them firmly in touch with the contenders but they will have to manage it without their two first-choice strikers once again.
