Is Kivumbi King the Next Big Signing at 1:55 AM?
Rwandan rapper Kivumbi King is rumored to be on the verge of joining 1:55 AM, the fast-rising music label headed by Kenny Mugarura, which has become a major player in the Rwandan and regional entertainment scene.
Although both sides have remained tight-lipped, several clues from recent public appearances and social media activity suggest that a partnership may already be in the works.
Growing Speculation
The strongest hints emerged during the Silver Gala held on November 1, 2025, hosted by international dancer Sherrie Silver. Kivumbi King was spotted walking the red carpet alongside Coach Gael and Kenny Mugarura, both key figures at 1:55 AM.
Inside the event, the trio shared the same table a small but telling detail that fueled public speculation about an imminent deal.
Just days earlier, on October 31, the rapper was also seen at the Caravane du Rire festival held at Kigali Universe, a venue owned by 1:55 AM. Again, he appeared in the company of Mugarura and Coach Gael, reinforcing growing suspicions that something big is coming.
A Pattern of Collaboration
In recent months, Kivumbi King has frequently been involved in projects linked to 1:55 AM artists and producers. Reports indicate he contributed to the writing of “Pom Pom”, the chart-topping collaboration between Diamond Platnumz, Bruce Melodie, and Joel Brown one of Africa’s most streamed singles this year.
His growing connection with Bruce Melodie, the label’s flagship artist, has also caught attention. The two have been seen together at events and in studio sessions, leading analysts to believe the partnership could soon be made official.
A Label on the Rise
Since its establishment, 1:55 AM has built a reputation as a powerhouse shaping the future of Rwandan music. The label currently manages Bruce Melodie, Loader, and producer Kompressor, after earlier collaborations with Kenny Sol, Ross Kana, and Producer Element.
Despite some past contractual disagreements, 1:55 AM continues to evolve with sources revealing it is exploring short-term artist partnerships to expand its creative portfolio and flexibility in management.
The Road Ahead for Kivumbi King
Known for his poetic lyrics and sophisticated storytelling, Kivumbi King has long stood out as one of Rwanda’s most gifted rappers. His entry into 1:55 AM would mark a significant new phase in his career potentially giving him broader exposure and access to global markets.
While neither party has confirmed nor denied the rumors, industry insiders say that “where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
If the deal goes through, it could redefine Kivumbi King’s artistic journey and further cement 1:55 AM as Rwanda’s most influential music label.
