France Mpundu Among Contestants at Risk of Elimination in ‘Secret Story Africa’
Rwandan musician France Mpundu, currently competing in the popular television show Secret Story Africa, has been listed among the four contestants at risk of elimination this week if he does not secure enough votes from viewers.
The reality TV competition continues to captivate audiences across the African continent, as remaining contestants compete for a grand prize exceeding 20 million CFA francs (approximately 50 million Rwandan Francs).
Mpundu, who gained fame in Rwanda’s music scene before relocating to South Africa, is the first Rwandan to participate in this edition of the show, which broadcasts on CANAL+ Pop and is now in its second year on the African continent.
Besides France Mpundu, the other three contestants on the “hot seat” are Sarah from Côte d’Ivoire, Ouaidou from Chad, and Josée from Benin. Out of these four, two will continue in the competition, while the other two will be eliminated based on viewer votes. “I appreciate how fans of Rwandan music continue to support me. It shows that even far from home, there are many people rooting for my success,”
France Mpundu told show organizers in a brief interview.
So far, only 10 out of the original 18 contestants remain in the competition, which features participants from 16 French-speaking African countries. The next elimination ceremony is scheduled for November 8, 2025, at 10:30 PM on CANAL+ Magic, while regular episodes air on CANAL+ Pop from Monday to Friday at 8:15 PM.
This is the second edition of Secret Story Africa on the continent, following last year’s winner, Awa Sanoko from Côte d’Ivoire.
Originating in France, where the show has aired for over 18 years on channels like TF1 and RTL Plug, Secret Story has won wide acclaim for documenting contestants’ everyday lives, showcasing their struggles, relationships, and personal growth.
Fans of France Mpundu are encouraged to continue supporting him as he represents Rwanda on the continental stage of Secret Story Africa.
