Benjamin Šeško Injury Blow as Man United Wait on Knee Scan Results
Manchester United striker Benjamin Šeško faces an anxious wait for scan results after suffering a suspected knee injury during Saturday’s 2–2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in North London.
The Slovenian forward was forced off less than half an hour after coming on as a second-half substitute, deepening United’s growing injury concerns. Harry Maguire also limped off earlier in the match, leaving manager Ruben Amorim with fresh fitness worries ahead of the international break.
Speaking after the dramatic contest, in which Matthijs de Ligt’s stoppage-time header rescued a point, Amorim confirmed the 22-year-old will undergo tests to determine the extent of the problem.
“He felt something in his knee, so we’ll need to assess it properly,” the United boss said. “With knees, you can never be sure straight away. We hope it’s nothing serious because we need Ben to be part of this team.”
Šeško joined United from RB Leipzig in a £74 million summer deal but has endured a difficult start to life in England, scoring just twice in all competitions. Amorim has repeatedly urged patience with the young forward, stressing that his physical profile and mentality will take time to adapt to Premier League intensity.
“He’s not relaxed right now he wants everything to work immediately,” Amorim admitted. “But football doesn’t work that way. He’s young, ambitious, and sometimes wants to control everything. He’ll have highs and lows, and that’s normal.”
The Portuguese coach added that despite the frustrations, Šeško’s potential remains “higher than expected” and that United’s staff are adjusting tactical plans to suit his movement and style.
Saturday’s injury came at an awkward moment for the striker, who had shown improved link-up play in recent weeks. His short cameo against Spurs included a clever pass in the buildup to Richarlison’s late goal before he pulled up clutching his right leg.
With Rasmus Højlund sidelined and Anthony Martial out of favour, Šeško’s setback could leave United light in attack for upcoming fixtures against West Ham and Marseille. The club’s medical department is expected to provide a full update early next week.
Šeško’s struggles have mirrored United’s inconsistency this season under Amorim, whose side have combined flashes of brilliance with worrying lapses in concentration. But the manager remains optimistic that once the striker settles, “he’ll show everyone why the club believed in him.”
