Barcelona announces Raphinha Hamstring Injury updates
Barcelona have confirmed that winger Raphinha has been ruled out for around three weeks after scans confirmed a hamstring injury to his right thigh, the club announced this Sunday.
Medical tests revealed that the 27-year-old suffered damage to the middle third of the biceps femoris muscle. The club announced the results on Friday, adding that his recovery will determine his exact return date.
Raphinha had been in good form recently, contributing goals and assists in both La Liga and the Champions League. His pace and direct style of play have made him an important weapon for Barcelona’s attack this campaign.
The injury means he is now likely to miss crucial fixtures over the next few weeks. That includes La Liga matches against Villarreal and Girona, as well as Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Hansi Flick will now be forced to reshuffle his forward line. Youngster Lamine Yamal, who continues to impress with his maturity and creativity at just 17 years old, could be handed more responsibility on the right wing.
Ferran Torres and new signing Marcus Rashford also offer attacking options, while Robert Lewandowski remains the focal point up front. However, Raphinha’s absence reduces Barcelona’s depth at a time when the squad has already been hampered by injuries.
This latest blow adds to Barcelona’s growing injury list. Midfield stars Pedri and Frenkie de Jong have also missed games recently, leaving Hansi Flick without several key figures as he looks to keep his side competitive on multiple fronts.
The injury also raises concerns given Raphinha’s history with muscle problems since joining Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022. Managing his workload has been a challenge, and the medical staffs are expected to take a cautious approach to his recovery.
Fans will be hoping that the Brazilian can recover in time for the next El Clásico against Real Madrid in late October. However, the club is unlikely to rush him back, preferring to ensure that he returns fully fit for the decisive months ahead.
Barcelona’s upcoming fixtures include Villarreal, Girona, and PSG in the Champions League, followed by Real Sociedad and the highly anticipated Clásico. Raphinha’s absence will test the squad’s depth and Hansi Flick’s tactical flexibility as Barça look to maintain momentum in both domestic and European competition.
