Moctar Wins ‘Secret Story Afrique’ as Rwanda’s France Mpundu Finishes Fourth
Moctar, the contestant representing Niger, has been crowned the winner of the second season of Secret Story Afrique, while Rwanda’s France Mpundu who was recently engaged to Moctar secured fourth place in the finals.
Moctar topped the public vote with 46%, followed by Moussa with 34.4% and Sarah with 18.8%. France Mpundu collected 0.8%, placing her fourth, while Joel came fifth with 0.4% of the votes.
By winning the competition, Moctar walked away with a cash prize exceeding 20 million CFA francs, equivalent to about 50 million Rwandan francs.
This marks the second year that the reality show is being held on the African continent. The inaugural edition, organized in 2024, was won by Awa Sanoko from Côte d’Ivoire.
This year’s edition brought together 18 contestants from 16 French-speaking African countries. Though not officially branded as a replica of Big Brother, the format bears similarities, including being produced by Banijay Entertainment S.A. and filmed in the same Johannesburg studio previously used for the African version of Big Brother.
The three-month show brings together selected contestants who live under constant camera surveillance, without access to phones or television. Each contestant enters the house with a secret they must protect while simultaneously trying to uncover the secrets of their competitors.
Episodes aired live on CANAL+ POP from Monday to Friday at 8:15 p.m., and on CANAL+ Magic on Saturdays at 10:30 p.m.
The format is adapted from the highly successful French version of Secret Story, which has been broadcast for nearly 18 years on channels such as TF1 and RTL Plug.
