Liverpool’s unbeaten run ended at Crystal Palace, Chelsea fell to Brighton with stoppage-time goals, and Manchester United lost at Brentford on a chaotic Premier League Saturday.

Premier League champions Liverpool saw their perfect start to the season ended in heartbreaking fashion at Selhurst Park, where Crystal Palace sealed a 2-1 win with a 97th minute strike from Eddie Nketiah.

The Reds had looked set to escape with a point after Federico Chiesa’s late equalizer, but Palace capitalized on defensive lapses to climb into second place, just three points behind the leaders.

It was a day of shocks across the league as Manchester United also fell 3-1 at Brentford, continuing their miserable away run, while Chelsea were undone 3-1 by Brighton despite leading early at Stamford Bridge.

At Brentford, Igor Thiago’s brace punished United’s high line inside the opening 20 minutes. Benjamin Sesko pulled one back with his first goal for the club, but Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty before Mathias Jensen’s stoppage-time thunderbolt sealed the Bees’ victory.

United boss Ruben Amorim admitted his side had been “confused” by Brentford’s intensity and set-piece pressure, with the result leaving his side languishing in the bottom half.

Chelsea’s collapse was equally dramatic. Enzo Fernández had put the Blues ahead, but Trevoh Chalobah’s red card swung the match. Brighton levelled through Danny Welbeck before Maxim De Cuyper and Welbeck again struck in stoppage time to silence Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, Manchester City cruised to a 5-1 win over Burnley in bizarre fashion. Maxime Esteve scored two own goals for the visitors, before Erling Haaland came off the bench to net twice in the dying minutes.

Leeds was also left stunned when 19-year-old Eli Junior Kroupi rescued a 2-2 draw for Bournemouth with a stoppage-time volley. Sunderland moved up to fourth with a gritty 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest, extending Ange Postecoglou’s wait for a first victory in charge.

Tottenham thought they had returned to winning ways but were pegged back 1-1 at home by Wolves, as Joao Palhinha netted in the 94th minute to deny Spurs all three points.

From late equalisers to stoppage-time heartbreakers, Saturday delivered drama across the board, leaving Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United nursing bruising defeats while the Premier League table tightened at both ends.
