Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck in a “Good Place” But No Signs of a Romantic Reunion
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have once again crossed paths but romance isn’t on the horizon for the former couple.
The pair, who surprised fans with a friendly reunion at the New York City premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman on October 6, appear to be on good terms. However, a source close to the two told PEOPLE that a rekindled romance is not in the cards.
“Jennifer’s doing well. She’s focused on things that make her happy family and work,” the insider shared. “She’s always enjoyed working with Ben, and that hasn’t changed. But there’s no romantic reunion with him.”
The source added that the two stars “are in a really good place,” emphasizing that they continue to support each other and remain proud of what they’ve accomplished together, both personally and professionally.
A Look Back at Their History
Lopez, 56, and Affleck, 53, first met in 2002 while filming Gigli and began dating shortly after. Their high-profile relationship, famously dubbed “Bennifer,” led to an engagement before the couple called it off in 2004. Both later moved on and started families with other partners.
Lopez married singer Marc Anthony in 2004, and the two share twins, Max and Emme. Affleck wed actress Jennifer Garner in 2005, and they have three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
In 2021, nearly two decades after their first breakup, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance to the delight of fans worldwide. They tied the knot in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a larger celebration in Georgia a month later. However, two years later, Lopez filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
Working Together Again
Despite their split, the two continue to collaborate professionally. Affleck’s production company, Artist Equity which he co-founded with Matt Damon co-produced Kiss of the Spider Woman, in which Lopez stars.
At the New York premiere, Affleck publicly praised Lopez’s performance, calling her “incredible” and commending director Bill Condon for an “amazing job.”
“My goal was to empower great artists and tell moving stories,” Affleck said during his introduction. “With this film, we achieved that and it’s an honor to be here.”
Lopez, meanwhile, recently reflected on working on the project during a difficult period in her personal life. Speaking on CBS News Sunday Morning, she said: “It was a really tough time. Every moment on set, I was so happy. But then going home wasn’t great. It was like, how do I reconcile this?”
Kiss of the Spider Woman, which also stars Diego Luna and Tonatiuh, is set to hit theaters on October 10.
Though their romantic chapter seems closed, Lopez and Affleck’s mutual respect and professional partnership show that even after heartbreak, collaboration and friendship can still shine.
